Some less reputable labs don’t subject their product to independent testing, and their spirulina supplements have been found to contain dangerous levels of heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and arsenic. To be safe, choose a brand with a certification of independent testing right on the label. The certification should contain a set of unique numbers that you can use to verify results with the laboratory.
